$4,490 per person. Price includes return airfare from Sydney, accommodation, breakfast and a host of activities in Tonga. In addition, each trip includes an exclusive photography package to capture photos of guests swimming with Humpback whales, exploring the baitfish-filled Swallows cave and snorkeling in the crystal-clear lagoons of this beautiful Polynesian archipelago.

Adventure itinerary:

Day 1 - Departure

Departing from Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport

Day 2 - Island hopping

Arrive in Tongatapu and transfer to accommodation in Nuku’alofa for Breakfast before island hopping to Vava’u by plane. Check in at Moorings Apartments, home for the next 7 days.

Day 3 - 1st day with the whales

Wake up for an early breakfast before hopping aboard a boat in search of the whales. Full day snorkelling with the humpbacks. Fruit, water and snacks provided on the boat.

Day 4 - 2nd day with the whales

Another early breakfast before hopping aboard the boat, getting out there and getting the snorkel back on. Fruit, water and snacks provided on the boat.

Day 5 - 3rd day with the whales

Sleep. Eat. Whale. Repeat. Another full day snorkelling with humpbacks in the tropical Tongan waters. Fruit, water and snacks provided on the boat.

Day 6 - Adventure options

Want another day with the whales? Or want to try something else? Scuba diving,* kayaking, walking up to Tatau lookout or just relaxing and taking it all in - it’s up to you.

Day 7 - The feast

A day of easy-going culture around town – visit St Joseph's Cathedral and listen to the beautiful harmonies sung by locals, then enjoy a traditional Tongan feast at Enio Beach. On the right tide, the lagoon here provides a wonderful place for a swim.

Day 8 - 4th day with the whales

Wake up for an early breakfast before hopping aboard a boat to enjoy the last full day snorkelling with the humpbacks. Fruit, water and snacks provided on the boat.

Day 9 - Island hopping

Enjoy a last coffee in Neifu before flying out to Tongatapu and transferring to the accommodation in Nuku’alofa

Day 10 - Free day

Enjoy the local markets and cafes, hire a driver and take a tour of the island to see the Royal Palace, the Stonehenge Coastline and the Blowholes at sunset – the day is yours.

Day 11 - Farewell Tonga

Say farewell to Tongatapu and enjoy your 4-hour 57-minute flight to Sydney remembering just how incredible it was to swim with the majestic humpbacks of Tonga.

What’s included on the trip?

This once in a lifetime adventure spans 11 days and includes:
4 full days swimming with Humpback Whales.
1 additional day to swim with whales or to scuba dive*, or explore the island.

What gear I need to bring?

Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are essentials items.

We highly recommend that you bring your own fitted mask, snorkel and flippers. These should be tested before the trip to ensure equipment faults don’t get in the way of your interaction with the whales.

A wetsuit or wetsuit top can be beneficial to keep you warm on board the boat if overcast and windy, but it is not essential.

What’s the duration of trip?

In total, the trip goes for 11 days.

Are flights included in the package?

Yes, international and interisland flights are included.

What International airport do we depart from?

Flights depart from and return to Sydney Kingsford International Airport. However, other international airport departures can be organised on a quote and availability basis.

Is all accommodation included?

Yes, we have 2 nights accommodation in Tongatapu, 1 on arrival and 1 on the night before we depart. The remaining 7 nights are spent in Vava’u at the Moorings apartments on the waterfront.

What meals are included?

Daily breakfasts, snacks & fruit are included on board the boats.
The trip also includes a traditional Tongan feast for Sunday Lunch.

All other meals can be purchased at various cafe’s, restaurants and convenience stores located a short walk from our accommodation.

What’s the water temperature in Tonga?

The water temperature ranges from 25 to 27 degrees in Tonga so a wetsuit isn’t essential, however, wearing one is advisable as it can get cool out of the water.
