2025 Whale Swims in Vava'u Tonga

We were excited to have four groups join us this year swimming with Humpback Whales in tropical Vava’u, Tonga.

When you fly in to the islands of Vava’u you will be in awe by the beautiful islands and atolls surrounded by crystal clear water.

On arrival to the Tongan Beach Resort instant relaxation kicks in and you receive a warm friendly welcome from the Tongan staff. There are paddle boards, canoes, kyaks ready to use, or you can snorkel and explore at your doorstep. Day 1 on the boat treated guests to their first in water interactions with Humpback whales and calves. Day 2 we had 4 adults that would rest 10m below you, then as they would rise to the surface swim right up to you. After lunch we all experienced a rare interaction swimming with 7 Manta Rays in the shallows of a lagoon. Day 3 and 4 saw more intimate and life changing interactions with, mums, calves and escorts.

Each week of August with the different groups would bring new experiences and swims. We had singing whales, mums with their young calves, sometimes the mums and calves would have up to 5 escorts (whales) with them. False killer whales, huge pods of spinner dolphins, a blue marlin, turtles, eagle rays, white tip reef sharks and octopus are also some of the beautiful marine life we would snorkel with.

After the days on the boat, everyone would enjoy relaxing by the shoreline talking about each swim and interaction, the different snorkelling locations and caves/atolls we explored. We would watch the sunsets with a cold coconut, beer, glass of wine or coktail, play cards and talk about how amazing each day was at the dinner table.

Most of our guests have travelled to different locations around Australia or the globe and tell us this is their No.1 trip and experience. If this sounds like the adventure of a lifetime you would love to experience please let us know or ask our previous guests about their adventure.

Our 2027 trips are now open for bookings.
